Spring Roadtrip - Oakey & Jondaryan Woolshed

We got home very late last night and I have so much blogging to catch up on so be prepared to be inundated over the next few days!

Our last morning on the farm was a quiet one...Mum headed off early to work and we enjoyed a few hours of sunshine before reluctantly packing up the car. We drove two hours east to the town of Oakey to check out where Mum volunteers each week at the Australian Army Flying Museum. Just wow! Mum does some pretty cool stuff! No resting on her laurels that's for sure. So proud! We did a tour of the museum and then one of the warrant officers took us over to the secure section to see Mum behind the scenes in the workshops. The boys got to see several aircraft in the process of being restored including a chinook helicopter.

(That's Mum at work...she made those covers out of old parachutes. Bit of a Nifty Nana my mum. The boys were well impressed!)

Our destination for our final night in the country was the Jondaryan Woolshed. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Steeped in history and an endless source of fun for the kids...Jondaryan is a place we will certainly be coming back to. We cuddled piglets, explored old barns, patted Clydesdales, toasted marshmallows over the fire, bedded down in the shearers quarters, cooked breakfast in a billy over the campfire, explored more outbuildings and played on the miniature railway track.

Sadly, we had to say farewell to Mum and get back on the road again Friday morning. I'd love to spend a week or two at Jondaryan with a group of family and friends. So much discover and such a beautiful property. Thanks for a fab week Ma...we'll be back!

xx Em
